8 tips for transporting your pet in the car

Do you like your pet to follow you everywhere? As he is a full member of the family, he obviously deserves the same attention as everyone else when it comes to driving. But where do you start to ensure your safety?

1. Get your pet used to traveling by car

Ideally, if you adopt a puppy or a new animal, let it tame the car little by little. Start with short trips as your pet gets used to driving. You will soon be inseparable travel companions!

2. Place them in the back seat

The place for kitty and dog is in the back seat, just like for the baby seat ... and for the same reasons: they are thus far enough away from the front airbags, which could seriously injure them in the event of an accident.

3. Use a transport cage

If you have a large animal, such as a dog, its carrier may not fit in your car. If so, use a seat belt adapter to make sure the animal is safe and will not become a projectile in the event of hard braking or a collision. Cats and other small animals should be safely transported in a cage that allows them to sit up and stand up fully, turn around easily, and lie down with ease. The transport cage should be well ventilated and kept in place so that nothing moves a bit. Some line the cage with wallpaper to make it more comfortable. All tastes are in nature!

4. Make sure they are comfortable

Make sure your little companions are happy and comfortable on the go. This will prevent them from distracting you while driving, injuring themselves or someone else if you have to brake hard, or even running away when someone exits the vehicle. After all, don't your loved ones deserve to travel first class?

5. Never leave your pet alone in the car

Never leave an animal inside a vehicle when it is scorching hot or even a little hot. This could cause him stress, suffering, dehydration and serious injury or even cause his death.

6. Adapt to the special needs of your exotic pets

If you own an exotic pet, be sure to provide it with the essentials for its happiness. Reptiles (except snakes) need a humid and comfortable environment. Birds are sensitive to temperature variations; So make sure that the temperature inside your vehicle is stable and comfortable.

7. Pack snacks and water

It is best that your pets do not travel with an overly full stomach. You should therefore feed them a few hours before leaving. You wouldn't like your dog to have motion sickness, would you? On longer journeys, always carry a good supply of water, treats and food. You can therefore offer small snacks to your companion.

8. Plan stops to stretch their legs!

Your pets need to run and go to the "little corner" regularly. Remember, the call of nature is felt with them too!
