Daily car insurance: how it works
Daily insurance is a so-called term insurance contract. This type of contract makes it possible to insure a car not covered by a traditional insurance contract for a relatively short period. These contracts nevertheless display limited guarantees and operate according to very specific rules.

Daily car insurance: what is it?
Daily car insurance is insurance specially designed for drivers who do not want to be insured throughout the year. The coverage it offers is therefore limited in time: generally from 1 to 90 days. Not all drivers can purchase this insurance, but the terms and conditions may vary from one insurer to another.
Generally, the subscriber must be at least 21 years old and have held a driver's license for more than 2 years. In addition, the insured must not have a penalty. Term auto insurance generally only offers basic coverage. But even so, it still comes at a significant cost due to the higher risk taken by the insurance company, the latter occasionally insuring a driver it does not know. Obviously, the guarantees offered by a daily car contract can be extended (assistance guarantee, damage guarantees, bodily guarantee, etc.), but to take advantage of them you will have to pay the price.
Daily auto insurance: in which situations?
Taking out daily car insurance may be necessary in certain situations:
If you are only using your car for a temporary one-day trip;
If your classic auto insurance contract has been suspended;
If you bring back a vehicle purchased for resale;
If you move a non-running, uninsured car;
If you travel to a country not covered by your current insurance (in this case, the insurance must last at least 3 days);
If you want to insure a borrowed vehicle;
...
There are a number of advantages to purchasing temporary auto insurance. On the one hand, the membership formalities are simple and therefore quick. On the other hand, it can be adapted to all types of cars.
Cost of daily car insurance
A brief analysis of the insurance market highlights the great disparity between the rates offered by insurers for daily car insurance contracts. With some, you can find a contract at 11 euros a day. At others, the price can go up to 49 euros per day. The cost of daily car insurance depends largely on the length of the purchase. But contrary to what one might think, the price of this type of contract is declining.
In other words, the longer the contract is taken out, the more the daily price will decrease. In addition to the duration of the contract, the scope of the guarantees as well as the characteristics of the vehicle to be insured may also come into play in the price calculation.
