What scholarships are available to pay for studies abroad?
Pay for studies abroad, which scholarships?
Traveling the world or crossing borders to study abroad is an effective solution to enhance one's career. At a time when mobilization has become more than a trend, international students are valued at more than 3 million worldwide.
In France, outgoing mobility is increasing sharply compared to incoming mobility, it is recording an average increase of 7% per year. To bring this dream of departure to life, however, we must find an appropriate method of financing.
There are many programs and scholarships available to support students and enable them to achieve their goals.
What funding to study in Europe?
The Erasmus program
The Erasmus program is one of the ways to find a scholarship to Europe. Its objective is to facilitate access to studies abroad for a period of 3 to 12 months.
Mobility is organized by higher education institutions and must allow the scholarship holder to enroll in training that follows on from the diploma he is preparing in France.
Two scholarships per student are awarded for each course:
funding for studies
help for the internship
The eligibility criteria are defined by each host university, but you must at least be in the second year of university studies.
Some destinations require a minimum language level, with supporting evidence. For language tests, a minimum score of 750 is required for the TOEIC (Test Of English for International Communication) and a mark between 100 and 120 is desired for the TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language), in particular to integrate the large English-speaking schools.
The recommendations of your language teachers are also a key part of your file. Among the documents required for submitting an application, you must provide an Erasmus motivation letter, photocopies of transcripts relating to the first two years of studies, a scholarship application letter and, as mentioned above, a letter of recommendation written by two teachers.
The amount of aid granted varies according to the length of stay and the country chosen, it is estimated between 200 and 350 € on average. The main advantages of students who win this scholarship are being able to study at their host university, without paying any fees, and being able to receive a scholarship at the same time throughout the stay.

To find out about the administrative formalities and the timetable, contact the international relations office at your institution. In most cases, the deadline for returning the file is in September.
While England is the preferred host country for students, other countries such as Sweden and Norway remain more affordable. To increase your chances of going on Erasmus, why not opt for even less well-known destinations such as Romania or Poland, they can have some pleasant surprises in store for you.
The Leonardo program
This program, which borrows the name of the illustrious Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci, is aimed at all countries of the European Union as well as students from Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. It allows you to go abroad to complete an internship of up to one year in a company. It is professional training that is therefore highlighted in the context of this assistance.
Funding can be granted to European candidates holding at least a bac + 2 and who wish to follow a professional internship related to their field of specialization.
The amount allocated is € 300 per month on average, and is accompanied by an economical return flight to the host destination. A supplement of € 250 can be released to cover language training.
The great interest of this program lies in the orientation of student candidates towards the professional world.

Is it possible to keep your French scholarship in a European country?
You retain your rights as a scholarship holder when you decide to continue part of your studies in a European country. The conditions for granting your scholarship do not change and are based on the same social criteria. However, you must be enrolled in a higher establishment recognized by the host country.
