What are the essential insurances?
Home insurance and auto insurance are among the essential insurances of everyday life.
Home insurance
Home insurance helps protect family assets. Insurers offer comprehensive home insurance that covers both responsibilities (rental liability, family liability, etc.) and personal property (furniture, embellishments, etc.), regardless of the family situation and the status of the occupant of the accommodation: owner or tenant, single or with family.
In the multi-risk home, certain events are necessarily covered: fire, natural disasters, technological disasters, storms, attacks and water damage. Other guarantees are commonly offered as an option: theft, broken windows, damage to electrical devices, etc.
In the case of condominium housing, most often, the insurance taken out by the trustee for the entire condominium covers all of the buildings (common and private areas), as well as the liability of the co-owners. In this case, it generally guarantees the arrangements made by each of them in their apartment: partitions, cupboards, wallpapers, etc. But it is sometimes limited to only the common areas and the liability incurred for them (for example, an accident elevator). Each co-owner must then insure the private parts and his responsibility for what concerns them.
The insurance obligation payable by tenants
The tenant is responsible for damage caused to the building occupied during the rental period. This is the rental liability arising from the lease contract concluded with the owner. The law provides for an insurance obligation to cover this liability.
The rental risk guarantee must cover fire damage, explosion damage and water damage. The landlord has the right to insert a termination clause in his rental agreement for lack of insurance and may require the tenant to give him an insurance certificate when handing over the keys, and then annually.
If they have suffered damage as a result of water damage or an explosion at the tenant's premises, or following a fire which started at the tenant's premises, when he is responsible for it, neighbors can appeal. This is why insurers always include insurance called "recourse from neighbors and third parties" to the rental civil liability guarantee.
Auto insurance
Anyone who uses a motor vehicle (car, motorcycle, scooter, quad, moped) can indeed engage their responsibility by causing injury to others, damaging the vehicle or suffering personal bodily injury.
Liability guarantee
The only compulsory automobile insurance, the civil liability guarantee allows compensation for damage caused to third parties by the caretaker or the driver of the vehicle:
injuries to a pedestrian, passenger, occupant of another vehicle ...,
damage caused to other cars, two-wheelers, buildings ...
Authorized or unauthorized drivers are covered under this third party liability guarantee. However, after compensating the victims, the insurer has recourse against unauthorized drivers.
