You could not get on the plane due to lack of available space. The company must not only ensure your re-routing on a next flight and your support in the meantime (meals, accommodation), but also pay you compensation. If this is not the case, ask him for the reimbursement of the tickets and this compensation by registered mail.
The amount of compensation to which you are entitled depends on the length of the journey: 250 euros for all flights of 1,500 kilometers or less; 400 euros for intra-Community flights of more than 1,500 kilometers and for all other flights of 1,500 to 3,500 kilometers; 600 euros beyond. These amounts are halved if the passenger is rerouted and if they arrive at their destination less than two hours late in the first case, three hours in the second case, or four hours in the third.
Please note: passengers who volunteer not to board must negotiate their compensation, which may therefore be higher or lower.
