Your duly checked-in baggage has been lost
You had registered your suitcases at the airport or at the station, but, on arrival, they disappeared or were damaged. Whether by plane or train, the carrier is responsible for checked baggage. You can ask him for compensation.
You have traveled by train: send your complaint to SNCF within three days by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt.
You have traveled by plane: complete a form by baggage at the airport, which you will send to the airline within seven days, also by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt.
In either case, you will need to assess and justify your harm.
The compensation to which you can claim is limited, except in the event of serious misconduct on the part of the carrier. SNCF compensates checked baggage up to 360 euros.
The airlines only guarantee luggage within the limit of 1,200 euros per traveler. So if they are worth more, take additional insurance. And keep your jewelry with you.
