A promising site?

At the end of this oversimplifying overview, the field of relations between the media and politics appears to be one of the most dynamic and promising projects in French political science . This dynamism is related to reconciliation between the traditions of 'é studies é Voque are here. Scientific and disciplinary strong oppositions e s remain. They should not hide the processes of 'é exchange and convergence. Forced by the balkanization of research between spe cialité s ACADE nomic in translation exercises and conceptual import, the franç researchers ais have souv e nt able to transform into an asset that e was a handicap. A process of international openness, of overcoming the divisions between sociology and communication sciences has thus limited the misdeeds of disciplinary provincialism. A second reason optimi s close to my ability of franç research glad to not build around the " political communication" micro-spec cialité autarkic. Instead, it is striking to note the concern shared by many different researchers é establish links in t re areas of research too often compartmentalised s other structuring the world ACADE nomic. The media's relationship to politics integrates the way they deal with social movements (Champagne, 1990). It is based on a sociology gen born ra l e of journalism and its relationship with the sources (Haegel 1992; Marchetti 1997). It broadens the agenda issues to a more global issue of priming , problem construction and public policies. He does not dissociate the study of speeches and forms of political language from those of their contents and effects. The anné 're ninety also saw the problems matic of the mé report dias to the s policy 'é broaden to the analysis of all the information, production of art ed vee events ( Re buckets ) . An e study of Derville (1997) on the fight between Greenpeace and the press services of the authority s franç ease for Contro on the mé coverage diatique test cell nuclear dice areas cided s the Pre President Chirac gives a good exempl e . Initially manhandled s ed by environmentalists, the press service of the ' weapon widely win the second half mé diatique. In an even more innovative way, it is also the political stakes of talk-show and “ reality-show ” programs that hold the attention of researchers (Chambat). Research in political communication is therefore part of a dense network of connections in France which links it to other major areas of political science (public policies, social movements). She e s t also analyzed e a problem matic which inte manages the politics of the new re communication networks (Vedel, 1996), looks into the concept of communication a great contemporary myth (Neveu, 1994). Last but not least , the optimism also comes from the strong international openness of French research . The English language works are de sormais read and mobilized s rapidly mê me if the scarcity of translations remains a flé in the 'ed edition scientific franç comfortable. But this opening internati o nal goes for other inputs, those of the Italian research on the side lé vision in particular.

This positive assessment is not without its shadows. Some are due to weaknesses already pointed out . Despite the ed studies re Centes (Mercier, 1996), the daily processing of information is little analyzed , as are campaigns é lectorales. But let's face it, the greatest intellectual frustration comes from the very low international distribution of French research . Little translated, coming from a community which is still timid and provincial within international research networks, French research has not yet found the place it deserves in international forums . Or RATHER t, the cir c ulation of research franç ease seems to illustrate in the field ACADE nomic Gresham's law, if one considers that post-modern amphigouris of Baudrillard on mé dias get on campus amé Americans more that a success of esteem. I see an e reason to thank Polis of its hospitality in Espé rant and make connai be work which, without waiting for the uncritical approval, invite the dice scientific beats.
