The delay of a train caused you harm. You are requesting compensation
Your train arrived several hours late, and you didn't have time to catch your connection. You can request reimbursement of the costs caused by this delay, by registered letter.
On the main lines, the SNCF offers a fixed compensation as soon as the delay reaches half an hour. This good travel allowance may be demanded in euros from one hour late.
Depending on the length of the delay, it varies between 25% and 75% of the price of the trip. If it does not cover your damage, you can claim full compensation.

Dear,
On (date), I left (place of departure) to go to (destination) by the train which was supposed to arrive at my destination at (…) hours.
In fact, I did not arrive until (…) hours and, therefore, I could not take the train (the plane) which was then supposed to take me to (destination). Not being able to leave until the next day, I had to take a room at the hotel.
The costs I have incurred constitute for me a loss amounting to (…) euros, for which I am asking you for compensation. Details and supporting documents are attached.
Please accept, Madam, Sir, the expression of my best regards.
