You have canceled your auto insurance contract. You request your information statement
When you terminate the insurance contract for your vehicle and wish to insure the same vehicle or a replacement vehicle with another insurer, the latter will systematically ask you to send it a copy of your information statement. This is a document containing the claims declared over the five years preceding the termination of the contract and mentioning your share of responsibility for each claim. This document also specifies the reduction-increase coefficient (bonus-malus) applied to the last annual deadline. It allows your new insurer to assess the premium you will have to pay to insure your vehicle.
The first thing is then to send a letter to your former insurer to ask for the communication of this document. The latter has fifteen days to respond to you. If, after this period, you have not received a response, do not hesitate to start it again.
(First mail)
Dear,
Following the termination of my contract no (insurance contract reference) covering the registered vehicle (vehicle registration number), I would like to thank you for sending me an information statement within two weeks.
Pending your response, please accept, Madam, Sir, the expression of my best regards.
